Important : New location for the cruise departure

Hi everybody,

I just learned today that the location for the cruise departure has been changed.

This is good news as it is closer to downtown (i.e. a walkable distance), so if you want to enjoy a (short) nice walk before the cruise, this will be easier !

Opportunity for networking and do good... car pooling to the social event

Dear all,

Here is another excellent opportunity to network !

If some of you are planning to rent a car, would you like to car-pool with pedestrians to the social event (i.e. 20 mns by car, from Green College to the cruise departure)? That would also imply a certain sobriety, of course ;-)

If you are interested, please let me know ( gmourmant@gmail.com ) as soon as possible, so that I can organize the rest of the trip !

Guest registration for the social event and museum

Dear all,

We now have 53 registrations! This is great and I am very excited and impatient to welcome all of you :-)

If you want to register guests for the museum (thursday evening) or for the social event (the cruise of the friday evening), you can now do so.

We succeeded to keep the same rate as for a regular participant, so the price will be 40$ for the cruise (12$ for the guided visit of the museum).

4/ Participants who already registered have to log back to their accounts and answer to this question:

6/Recalculate
You will get the total of your transaction
7/Finish the transaction.

A summary of the transactions should appear and you should only pay the balance (40 or 52$).

Parking around Green College

Dear all,

The conference is very soon now, so here are a few more practical information

If you plan to rent a car, here are some information for parking.

If you stay at Green College, unfortunately, there is no free parking, however the closest parking is here (almost in front of Green College):

The daily rate is approx 13$ and the night rate is 5$. (http://www.parking.ubc.ca/index.html)

If you stay at Gage towers, they have parking around the towers and their rate are more reasonable (7$ for 24 hrs).

Museum visit - Welcome to Vancouver

Dear all,

For our welcoming event, we invite you to a guided tour of the beautiful Museum of Anthropology.

As people may arrive at different time, we will have two private guided tour,
one starting at 5 pm and the other at 5:30 pm.

The museum closes at 5 pm, so if you want to have a tour on your own, we encourage you to start the visit earlier.

After the tour, we will have a gathering event at an Irish pub close by, this way we will have smooth transition from last year conference :-) (which was in Ireland).

For timing and organization reasons, registration will take place at the pub from 6:45 to 7:15. Here is the link to the pub, you can also find it on the map.

You will also have the possibility to register Friday morning at Green college

Friday social event - Beautiful cruise

Dear all,

Another great reason to listen to our Computer Personal experts!

Registration is now open and we also finalized the social event.

We will embark on a 3 hours private cruise and tour beautiful British Columbia by sea.

Our boat : the Magic Moment

I have already organized such a cruise for my wedding (5 years ago) and I can tell you it is unforgettable, especially at sunset !

In order for everybody to participate, we succeeded to maintain the same price as previous year social event (i.e. 40$).

Transportation (2) - From Seattle to Green College

An alternative airport that could be cheaper (even with renting a car) is Seattle.

Please consider that you may need extra time for custom, but this could be worth checking.

Here is the map to go from Seattle Airport to Green College. It will take approx. 3 hours plus custom time (especially on your way back).

Transportation (1) - From Vancouver Airport to the Green College

Hi all,

There are several ways to get to the main venue of the conference.

The most economic is to combine the skytrain (i.e. the Vancouver metro) with one bus (same ticket). This is pretty straightforward and usually takes one hour. You can buy your ticket in the skytrain station (7.50 $CAN). There are ATM machines at the airport (look for RBC). Note that the skytrain is completely new (following the winter Olympic games) and by itself, it is almost a touristic attraction ;-)

You can also get there by car (rental car or taxi - approx. 40$CAN). It will take 25 mn on a beautiful scenic road along the sea.

Successful Authors have been Notified!

Jack and I have notified all authors whose papers have been accepted for the SIGMIS CPR'10 conference.

In total we have accepted 23 papers and 3 panels. The papers address important and interesting issues ranging from curriculum development to career choice to life after programming. And everything in between ......

Thanks to all who have submitted and especially to the reviewers for their nurturing reviews. As always, the reviews were helpful in developing the papers such that the quality of papers that will be presented will be of quality.
